JAY ZINN ART

Art has always been a part of my life since I drew my first Mickey Mouse at five years old. My parents encouraged this “creative” side and enrolled me during my high school years for summer classes at the Dayton Art Institute in Ohio.

After High School, I trained at the Central Academy of Commercial Arts and the University of Cincinnati. During our annual visits with Roseann’s parents in Alaska, I became an understudy of their neighbor and famous Alaskan watercolorist, Byron Birdsall.

In 1990 I became a part-time freelance “decorative” artist, first for Art’s Uniq’ in Tennessee and, later, Penny Lane Publishing in Ohio. Over 100 decorative images have been published and licensed for products since those years.

I later fell in love with the medium of abstract art on rusted steel when I met Dayton Artist, Mike Elsass. Like I did with Byron Birdsall, I spent days with Mike to observe and study his process. I came home and rented my own art studio space and began creating my own line of works and sold my originals of fine art in galleries such as the Shain Gallery and Dunhill Hotel Gallery in Charlotte, NC, and the AVA Gallery in Davidson, NC. My art work has also been featured in the North Carolina Arts Publication, the Charlotte Observer (Meet Your Neighbor), and the QC (Queen City) Exclusive Magazine.

Today, my art hangs in banks, restaurants, coffee shops, but mostly on the walls of over 60 collectors across the nation, in China, and in Indonesia and who have purchased my art. Given my other endeavors of ministry, writing, and discipleship, my artistry has become part-time whenever a new client or previous collector commissions me to do a piece for them.

I charge $2.80 per square inch for the art, not including the taxes (if in NC), the price for framing (upon request), and the shipping and handling (if out of state or country). You can see more of my work on Instagram at “jayzinnart.” If you’re interested in commissioning me to do art for you, you may reach me on the contact page of this website, and we can discuss your project together to see what you’re looking for in your home or office.
